I'm really happy for you Celeste! I'm so glad you were surrounded by support and that your recovery is going so well with good pain control. It was such a moving and affirming moment to see the results of my own surgery and to enjoy so many wonderful "firsts" following it. I'm curious, if you're open to sharing, what it has felt like emotionally for you. I probably won't see your response if you reply here (I'm a substack novice!). Feel free to text or email. I think you have both.
Regardless, I'm very happy for you! All the best! Grace
What a great question! (And I'll look for a way to send it to you directly).
To be honest, the primary emotion has just been one of "peace" and "rightness". Like, nothing about my new anatomy feels foreign, it just feels like "oh, my body is finally the way it always should have been." The idea that it was ever different feels so odd to me! And finally, there's a sense of closure and relief at having it done - for so long I was worried that laws would change and remove the option.
Impatience has also been present, as I continue to just wait for things to heal. But it's been nice to be able to get back to so much of normal life already!
Congratulations, Celeste! That's wonderful.
Yay!!! So happy for you! And glad everything has gone so smoothly!
Love you, hon, and so happy to be a partner in this wonderful gender dance with you! 🫂💜
Awwww - same to you! Love you so much! 💜 (and I love the phrase "gender dance"!)
I heard the phrase from an elder while I was still early in transition. Way more fun than "journey" 🏞️
